The Peggy Society Inaugural Event!

PGC alumni are invited to a special private viewing of "Medardo Rosso," the second installation at the new Center for Italian Modern Art. Rosso (1858-1928) was a key figure in the development of modern sculpture. The exhibition will explore the full range of media in which Rosso worked, showing for the first time ever a large body of his drawings and experimental photography, in addition to examples of his sculptural works in wax, bronze, and plaster.

The Center for Italian Modern Art, located in Soho, was founded in 2013 to promote the study and understanding of twentieth-century Italian art. Each year, from October to June, CIMA presents a focused installation that features the work of thought-provoking artists rarely seen in the United States. These exhibitions serve as a kind of theme or platform for the season, the basis for CIMA's fellowships and programming. CIMA's first season (February 21 – June 28, 2014) was dedicated to the Italian Futurist Fortunato Depero (featured in the concurrent Italian Futurism exhibition at the Guggenheim).

Guests were hosted by Heather Ewing, executive director, and CIMA's Fall Fellow Chiara Fabi.
